New Artist & Jewelry Collections; Help to Spotlight Suicide Prevention & Awareness

Updated: Apr 17, 2024

We want to introduce you to our newest artist, who works in eco-friendly resin, making recyclable resin earrings in the image of many of our favorite birds & odes!! Brittnee (Butterflies & Semicolons) enjoys drawing the images and then creates one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces that will be exclusive to our shop. Woodland's End's exclusive collections will be available for a limited time. A minimum of 10% of all profits from the Sale of items in the collections made by Brittnee will be donated to the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention. So many people are tragically touched by mental illness, depression/anxiety. We want to help Brittnee bring this cause to light and make people aware by selling her beautiful earrings to remind us that we are fragile. Butterflies & Semicolons represents that awareness campaign by tattooing a semicolon on each earring we sell to display our solidarity with Suicide Prevention. The semicolon symbolises the pause we must take when life makes our story challenging. Still, the pause will allow our story to continue. Butterflies represent the feeling of freedom we experience when overcoming clinical depression and anxiety that contribute to the challenges of our life's continuing story.

Within many families, mental illness is often met with concern but not open discussions about the underlying issues that may be difficult to discuss. If this happens in your family,

seek professional help for those involved. There is nothing wrong with having a mental illness. Mental illness should be treated like any other illness. People SHOULD be kinder to people suffering from mental illness because, well, you just should be nicer!! Being KIND should be

rule. Instead, we pretend it isn't a true crisis and go about our lives as if everything is fine. We nearly all know someone who knows someone who has taken their life. As we age, this number is bound to increase. In our Mid-life years, people with some mental illnesses reach what is called their peak personality, when some traits are exaggerated and exacerbated. If they have mental illnesses, the signs of having a mental illness become more apparent or more challenging to hide. If someone has been strong enough to keep it under wraps until they hit 50 or 55, suddenly, they may be unable to hide and end up showing their true self, flaws and more. They find it more difficult to contain or hide their nervous ticks, their OCD behaviors, and their bipolar/manic or depressive phases. If this is a problem, and you feel unable to handle the situation, talk with someone of authority who can act. Another family member, clergy, teacher, co-worker, supervisor, parent, or spouse. Make any connection you can to get that person the help they need. Thank you for reading. - WeCare@woodlandsend.com
